Let's Give The Photographer Some Credit!

Tria Giovan for Southern Accents
When flipping through a magazine , looking at beautiful interiors and architecture, I rarely think about the one thing that I'm actually looking at...the photograph! I think if a photograph is done well, we automatically put ourselves into the environment as if we were standing at that entry door or sitting in that living room.
Tria Giovan is a New York based photographer. Her work has been exhibited in the Museum Of Modern Art, The Brooklyn Museum of Art, The New York Public Library, and the Jewish Museum in NY. I've chosen a selection of interior photographs that she has taken. They are light and airy, with a summery feel. After all, the sun is finally shining in upstate New York!

Apartment Therapy did a feature on Tria's photographs that include people. Apparently, having people in her photographs is something that she does frequently, unlike many other interior photographers.

The rest of the photographs are from a Dutch Colonial Beach house in Florida, featured in Coastal Living magazine.

Truly a "beachy" mix of textures and color!

That was a beautiful beach house. I like that it wasn't decorated all nautical or sea shell motifs like so many beach houses! By using colors inspired by the water, sand, and driftwood, designer Susan Ferrier was able to create the calm and relaxing feel that you want when your trying to get away from it all! She has worked with architect Bobby McAlpine creating more than forty seaside projects in the US and the Caribbean, which by the way, is where Tria Giovan grew up (St. Thomas).

Hope you enjoyed! Happy Monday :)

  4. Great photos above - and I do just sink into the space, completely forgetting about the person behind the camera. Means they've done an excellent job. Love that painting behind the two white chairs by the way. Makes me swoon.

Thanks for visiting my blog and the invitation to pop over and check out yours. Very nice! I'm following back. :)

  8. Her photos are beautiful. I think you're right we often don't think about the photographer. I agree with Sarah, if the photography is not well-done you will not be as drawn into the room.

  9. Thank you for visiting my blog, I am now your follower. ;-)

Those photos are great and it is so true that it is hard to photograph interiours. I always envy those who manage to get the right light, angle and colors in their photos.

  12. Love the light in the pictures.
And you are right we think of the designer, the colors, fabrics and furniture, but never of the photographer who made it all possible.
    Good reminder

  13. Michelle, your blog is so pretty! I am so glad you found me because I am definitely following you. I love this post...lovely eye candy. I think home magazine photographers deserve lots of credit, too, because let's face it: The photos sell the magazines!

Thanks again for a lovely post!
